Hillbilly Attack - First OTB Attempt

This opening is hilarious! I lose plenty of games with it, but then, patzer that I am, I lose a lot of games in general! This win was pretty good, though. Check it out:

It's really interesting that you guys bring up the 6.g5!? line. I recently played a game against a master who used that line against me.
Time control was G/60 with a 10 second increment (not delay!) -- I did get a huge time advantage out of the opening, which was the only good thing that happened to me. I definitely got the worse position from the opening as white. I ended up getting lucky because he missed a tactic on his 14th move and it was enough for me to win.

Thank you! My anxiety level near the end was through the roof because I was getting low on time and for some reason I was getting paranoid that I was going to lose the endgame or only get a draw lololol.

Very interesting. All those "masters" are playing it all wrong. Not weak moves, but bad strategy overall. I mean ...g5? Why they play caro can anyway if they want to make chaos on board. That's exacly what we amateurs want with this opening.
As a masters they should show some matureness and not childish provokative moves/gambits. 'Cuz all they show is not close to master at all. And if you check FIDE rating of those NM's you often will see that they are at 2050~level which is not even close to Candidate Master..
Good job all.

You need to shift your paradigm. It doesn't matter that 6... g5!? is wilder than some other lines of the Hillbilly. What matters is that Black gets to have some fun too, and that it is a legitimate attempt to demonstrate a solid Black advantage.
Also, the Caro-Kann doesn't have to be stodgy and boring if you don't want it to be.
There are lines like the Bronstein-Larsen, the ... O-O Classical lines and the 3... c5!? line in the Advance if Black wants to have some fun. Also, there are a few different lines in the 4... Nd7 variation with an early ... h7-h6 inviting Nxe6.
Throughout your post there is this narrow-minded assumption that some people only want to play quiet positions and some people are only good at playing quiet positions.
No good chess player says "I'm a tactical player" right at the beginning and proceeds to prove it all the way up to 2200. In fact, said player will never be good until they get rid of that mental block.
There is absolutely no master on earth that cannot play quiet positions, tense positions, and wild positions at a 1900 level at least.

Look man it's 4:34 am here and i don't wanna start some pointless disscusion with 1220 blitz and 1210 tactics guy with boring nickname. Know your place.

I never use TT and I suck at blitz in the first place. Plus most of my blitz games are played late at night. Maybe if you actually read my post you would learn something.
If you were even trying to make something positive out of this discussion, you would look at my Standard rating, based entirely off of slow games, which stands at a healthy 1500.
Keep in mind that ThrillerFan or IM Pfren would say the same thing that I did.
If I want to suggest something to or even constructively criticize an 1800 player that I feel is going about things in the wrong way, I have a right to that. It might be correct and it might not be, but I still have a right to say it.
Because a 1600 is not a 1600 is not a 1600.
We can all learn from each other.
I have some things that I need to learn. Fair enough.
Now you need to snap out of your egotistical funk and acknowledge that I have a good point. I know my place. Now you need to find yours. Learn a little humility, heck, just be willing to converse nicely with anyone, even a true beginner. Maybe you'll both come away from it with something positive.
You gave a blanket criticism of masters that play 6... g5!? in your post.
How am I not allowed to say the same to you?
I played in a local 3-round tournament today. Time control was G/60 with 5 sec delay. I was 2-0 going into the last game and only needed a draw to secure at least a tie for first. My opponent was rated 1834 USCF (I'm 1751) and he was playing only to win because he was half a point behind me.
After 1.e4 c6... I realized he probably knew way more about the Caro-Kann than I did. I vaguely remembered watching GM Simon William's video on the Hillbilly attack, so I decided SURPRISE!!! HILLBILLY ATTACK!!
Here's the game for you. Enjoy and feel free to comment.
