Are there any blogs / videos / books / things I should know on the King's Gambit ? As a 1050 elo player, is it a good idea to play it ?

You are not Fischer and neither is your opponent. Play it if you like it.

Look on Chessable for courses. The most recent book on the subject was written by John Shaw in 2013. As far as any blogs or videos on the subject (or any subject in particular) look it up on a search engine like google. As you get stronger, the risk of playing it might not be worth it but I'd give it a shot and if you enjoy playing it, continue to do so.

First of all here's all you need - https://youtu.be/pZirHWEFY18?si=rpeb8lL_8cNCugrh The full 50-minute long king's gambit guide, but obviously you don't need that on your level.

here is a 4-minute breakdown - https://youtu.be/BG6mj_0p01g?si=fnCz1xCaYxQI8Xz1

BUUUT king's gambit has a counterpart - the vienna. I really recommend you to play it instead cuz it's safer and is probably more winning.

Here is a 9-minute breakdown of it - https://youtu.be/uGQV776D-2Q?si=lD-RPT92KuZ__c8y

here is a comparison between king's and vienna - https://youtu.be/ls-I531tado?si=1FT9sStR_BT7majp

The main difference is the knight on c3. In the king's gambit you can play c3 d4 and put the knight on d2, in the vienna you can't do that. BUT in vienna you haven't commited your f pawn on the second move already, so you can delay it if you want to. Also Knight on c3 instantly protects the e4 pawn meaning it is much harder for black to create counterplay. Also Vienna has a lot less variations to learn if you want to fully master it.

If you decided to go with vienna, here is a complete vienna guide - https://youtu.be/fIeLCdxig4A?si=bjD6STiseVMvk6X7

also I should mention the gotham chess one - https://youtu.be/JVxENCPcCjU?si=OrLgLJ1nYw5KE5hg

and this goated lichess study which has literally everything you need - https://lichess.org/study/UPHk9bvW/3D8qSlIG

and here's my recommendation: do NOT learn the main line theory, just play Nf3 and continue with logic

When did he say that? Before or after he went completely insane?

tygxc

@10

Fischer wrote it in 1961 in his article 'A Bust to the King's Gambit'.
He never was insane as psychologists corroborate, only controversial in his political views.

tygxc

@9

Fischer analysed and published his refutation 3...d6 after this lost game.

white needs to know the ideas and some of the theory to play it.

¨Spassky told me himself the gambit doesn't give White much, but he plays it because neither does the Ruy Lopez nor the Giuocco Piano.¨ - Fischer

@13

Fischer gave 6...Bg7 7 c3 Nc6 8 Qb3 Qe7 9 h4 Nf6 10 hxg5 hxg5 11 Nxg5 Nxe4 12 Bxf7+ Kd8 13 Nxe4 Qxe4 14 Bxf4 Nxd4 and black wins.
