Fischer wrote an article in 1961 claiming 3.. d6 was a bust for the King's Knight's Gambit. It is sort of a weird article, since how could you easily get a won position as black with a fairly slow move like d6? Plus Spasky had just beaten Fischer with the King's Gambit, so Fischer was probably looking into defenses, but if he really planned on using the Fischer Defense, why would he publish the article?
It seems like it has gotten good results. It prepares g5 and makes it hard for white to get a strong attack.
