I think castling long would be dangerous in this case as the Bishop on g7 is eyeing that side already and if white trades the light-square bishop for the knight, then white will be weak on the light squares as well. Black will have the bishop pair and I find that when one side castles long, the Bishop pair is very strong. I could be wrong here since I'm no expert.
(Hyper) Accelerated Dragon 7. Bb5

Ahh nice explanation :] I think I understand the dangerous castling long part of it now but is there anything (else) wrong with this Bb5 line.
Ex) Any way for black to seize initiative (im thinking along the lines of a6+ b5), beginning an attack ,...

Have you ever heard of the Yugoslav attack? Unless something drastic has changed it's a very sharp attack on the dragon formation queen side castling for white is part of his formation:

Yes, but it is the best line vs. the regular dragon and although it is a main line in the accl dragon, black has an easier time equalizing based on the lines this book gives.
However, in the Bb5 line what should my middlegame plan be? Admittingly, the middlegame phase is my weakest phase since I need to learn how to begin an attack effectively. If its a sharp game, I would prefer the attacking side since on defense, I feel I have more pressure against me.
I think most strong players disregard Bb5 on general grounds without any deep analysis. In most sicilians black is usually very happy to play a6 and b5 and with bishop on b5 he can do so with gain of tempo unless white is willing to exchange his bishop to c6 knight which is not that interesting for him either.

Exactly so...
Hello, recently while reading my "Chess Openings for Black, Explained" Book, I keep wondering about 7.Bb5, which seems perfectly fine and gets no coverege in the book. Heres a diagram:
I would probably play 7...0-0 but I would like some insight in what should be my plan here after this. I am most worried about white castling long since that isn't really supposed to happen in the (hyp) accl. dragon. Ex) White following up with f3 (a move countered by d5 in the main line), Qd2, and 0-0-0.
Thank you :]
