Chessable is better , has some issues but I have a more fun with it than CPT or book up etc.. good luck with your progress
Importing opening repertoire from Chess Position Trainer to ChessBase (repertoire/My Moves)
Thank you for your reply Divergent71 but it's not CPT I have issues with - it's the importing of its exported databases into ChessBase to be able to use them as opening repertoires there as well.

- Be able to find the first move deviating from my opening repertoire already in Chessbase
How can you do this in Chessbase?
I'm looking for a way to do this to. You can use the option 'Run games against repertoire' in CPT 5.1, for this.
But then all the candidate moves have to be marked as 'best move'. And that's a lot of work and I don't think there is a way to mark them all automatically.
For importing an existing repertoire to my moves in Chessbase you can try this: http://help.chessbase.com/Fritz/17/Eng/index.html?working_with_a_repertoire.htm
Maybe you first have to use the option 'collect openings'
http://help.chessbase.com/CBase/16/Eng/index.html?collect_openings.htm
I didn't try it myself and I don't know if it can also be done with Chessbase 16
Thank you for the suggestion Laduhawke 79. There are options to "Load White", "Load Black" etc in Chessbase 16 too and I've read the manual and tried to make it work, but it doesn't.
Is there anyone who has managed this? I've put in an incredible amount of time to build my CPT database and it would be so good to be able to reuse it in Chessbase.

You didn't answer my question TheSwede. Do you know a method to find the first move deviating from a opening’s repertoire in Chessbase?
I mean for my white repertoire I want to search in a separate database for deviations for the white moves. I think this is possible in Chessbase by using the online database. But I want to be able to do it with a database of selected games I have on my hard disk.
I know out of experience that many things described in the manuals of Chessbase don't work if you actually try them. Or they don't work like you would expect. And it does all kinds of processes without explaining exactly what it does.
If you collect opening for example from a database, you will find that not all variations are included in the resulting merged games.
The worst thing is that we are 2021 and there is still no better alternative than the Chessbase software.
Sorry, as I haven't even been able to import my database yet I haven't started looking into how to find the first deviating move. But according to the manual it should be easily available if you manage to set up your opening repertoire (which I'm not).

I think I find a way to do it. First of all, import all your repertoires for white in one big opening for white, in cpt. Do the same steps for black of course.
Then when you export this big opening for white to pgn in cpt. You will get an explosion of games for some reason. I think because of the many possible transpositions. I don't like this behavior, I would like the export in cpt would be the same as the import, except for lines that where changed.
To solve this, I import the exported pgn to openings in Chess Opening Wizard and export to pgn again. Then the amount of games seems reasonable and it looks like all variations are included.
Convert the exported pgn to cbh in Chessbase, create a search booster and set the eco codes by going to the games list. Go to the Report menu, and collect the openings. Copy these collected openings to a new cbh database 'Repertoire White.cbh'. Create a search booster and right click the database go to properties and check the box Repertoire White.
If the export pgn from cow have about 5000 games, then after opening collection in Chessbase there will be about 300 merged games.
Now to upload your 'Repertoire White.cbh' to my white moves, start with merged game 1, go to the Training tab and choose the option ‘Upload survey to MyMoves’, and check the option White.
Do this for all the merged games in the database 'Repertoire White.cbh' and you are done.
I can’t promise the result will be perfect. I suspect there will be rare played lines missing, because not all lines are in the merged games after using the option collect openings.
I hope this helps.
Thank you so much for all these details, but already in CPT you have the option of exporting black and white repertoires both as a collection of games and as one single game with all variations (nothing missing). I really wish to just import one of these formats and not loose any moves.

You need to have bleu marked moves in the merged games. For the option upload to my moves to work. Maybe you can ad them manually, but this will be a lot of work. I also doubt if Chessbase will be able to handle one big merged pgn game, when you export your complete repertoire to a a big merged game in cpt.
Hi,
I'm trying to create my own opening repertoire/My Moves database in ChessBase 16, and starting by importing the exported PGN database from Chess Position Trainer.
I've been using Chess Position Trainer many years and I want to continue using it. My goals here are to:
I've been reading the Chessbase manual A LOT, but still can't even get started and my imported repertoires always fail and "My moves" are empty.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and Happy New Year to everyone!
