Batgirl is one of my favorite writers.

I tried to send you a message, but you don't accept any, only from friends. I tried to become your friend But that wasn't allowed either.  I was trying to send you the link to the game.

I will add you now.

One of the games I tried one was not a trap, it was a gambit. The name of it is "Schilling - Kostic Gambit"

Apparently the chess player Kostic used to play patzer for Schillings and that was how he made his money. He was in the United Kingdom.

The link to the game that is not in progress now:

You can take a look at it and even re-run it from the begining.

You can MAKE ANY MOVE SUGGESTIONS NOW THAT THE GAME IS OVER. IT IS ALLOWED.

It was a tournament game.

RichColorado

The game is over by resignation. Here is the final with the five force moves I had put on the PROVISIONAL feature.

I got lucky once again. I forgot there is no such thing as luck in Chess I am told. Thank you to all that read and made comments.

I don't like playing agains a D4 opening. I really don't know what to do. So I have to try traps OR gambits. I try closing my eyes and just hope.

I just won another game in a UNDER-1600 Heisman Tournament with the Budapest Trap. I was playing black. I took ten moves. It took eight moves to set it up and two moves to execute the mate. He resigned before the checkmate.

It is a simple mate, check it out. Of course once it is pulled on you it won't happen again to you.

All my posts can't be positive ones. In this instance I am positive I am dead. I was in a dull game and I wasn't in a position where there were posibilities. So I looked at a combination where I could sacrifice a piece and I would be able to get continual checks.

It would have been a draw. That was something that I've never had. The more I looked at it, the more I liked it.

So as soon as she made her move, without taking my time and looking at the move she made. I made mine.

BLUNDER! BLUNDER! BLUNDER!

Showed up after I made the move and I looked at the diagram. I lost the piece that I was going to sacrifice on her next move.

I was a piece down. But I was mentally down. Being down one piece is not a bad thing, but the position was in her favor and I would lose more pawns. I thought of resigning right then.

No. I can't do that, I think I will just play and sacrifice more pieces and just totally lose. That would be my punishment. That is what I deserved. Maybe being in ten games is the blame, since I'm trying to get rid of some of the games as quickly and I can. But that isn't happening.

My mistake were:

I didn't use the TIME I was supposed to take.

I didn't look at the CHANGE her move made.

I just had to MOVE the piece someplace.

I didn't EVALUATE the result of the move I was making.

I didn't WRITE the move down first, before making it.

Oh Well. This will be my first lose since May 14, 2012. I've had eleven wins in a row. This loss had to come sometime and I am sure more are coming.

Oh yeah. I see know that LUCK didn't have a thing to do with this loss. It was me and my RUSH move that did it.

I just tried another trap from the book against a player that has just won a game against me and it worked.

My opponent was trying the Ruy Lopez opening.

He put the Bishop on B5.

Instead of pushing the Pawn to A6 attacking the Bishop.

I moved the other Knight to NF6. He defended with d3.

I moved my attacked Knight to NE7, and he took my Kings pawn with his Knight. He got greedy and lost the Knight.

I won a piece.  But Now I don't know how to proceed.

YOU CAN GIVE ADVICE AS THIS IS  TOURNAMENT GAME IS NOW OVER.

Check it out. It's only seven moves. It might work for you. The opponent is a good player and I didn't think he would fall for it. Here is the link:

Thanks Scott RF

It's from the 300 traps book by Chernev but he doesn't give any of them names. They sort of work sometimes. But that doesn't win the game only a small piece worth three points, but I gave away a pawn to get it.

Now I know the name and will note it in the book page.

My opponent fell for the Mortimer trap and I won a Knight on my seventh move. Of course it cost me a pawn.  So I had 3 point and he had 1 point.

That little trap didn't win me the game. I really didn't like that my Queen was out in the middle of the board. In order to get her outta there, I was considering giving back my Knight as a sacrifice.

So on my 9th move I deviced a combination to give it back but not for free. My Queen ended up in the middle again. It was a struggle to keep her alive.

I decided that If I traded even, even with pieces then my game would be ok. So I executed the plan and I ended with a drawn game.

Keep in mind that in order for a chess trap to work, your opponent needs to "cooperate".  if they make a single move outside of the trap sequence, and it won't work...then what are you left with?

The traps I've read about leave you in a negative position if they fail.  What I'd like to see is a chess trap that, if it fails (due to your opponent not playing along), you're still left in a positive position.  Are there any like that?

RichColorado

I have found that I am sometimes left in a negative position but I can get a draw out of a higher rater player just by exchanging and goind to the end game.

Do many of these traps involve moving a knight twice during the opening?

I find when someone does that they're usually trying for some kind of trap, and it's somewhat of a giveaway.

Not all the traps involve a knight nor a twice movement of the knight. Many in the 300 traps are after eight moves of different pieces. The Mortimer, the Budapest Defense do involve a knight. I tried to look at your games but you don't have any on Chess.com.

I suggest you play some RATED game here, join a group and play in their matches. I see that you have written a lot though.

If your opponent doesn't cooperate and make the move necessary, then you have to play chess with you imagination.

Bye for now. Hope to see your games.
