Is Ne8 in the King's Indian Bayonet still a viable weapon?

In modern theory, Nh5 and a5 seem to be the critical lines with in the King's Indian Bayonet attack. However most people before the surge of engines likes to play Ne8 (Which I do as well). My question is for higher rated folks, is the Ne8 lines still playable in competitive chess?

If you look at the master game database here, both 9..Nh5 and 9..a5 are substantially more popular.

However, 9..Ne8 seems to have a better win rate for black.

So those two correspondence games showed black losses.

Perhaps you could elaborate a bit about what you think they show for the variation.

Yeah those two games aren’t massively convincing. I think the simple answer is likely that ne8 must be ok, but Nh5 gets you similar stuff but is also more active with nf4 type stuff possible too.
