Lesson 2: The QG is an excellent start.
What do you think about "Chess Openings for Kids"? The name suggests something easy to digest and specific ideas to me. The Kindle version is about $5, which is perfect for me

Never looked at the book, so im not qualified to give an opinion. I did look at your games, and none of them were decided by the opening. But if you want to invest $5 into a book, what can it hurt?
OMG, Matthew book is awesome. I just read the sample pages. Q&A chess books are the best!
My personal favs are the Yasser Seirawan series. Play Winning Chess, Winning Chess Tactics, etc. Just so clear for a beginner to understand.
If you are interested in the QGD, look over the games of the first 4 world champions (specifically the world championship matches).
And if you never want to play it ever again. Play over the games from the Capablanca vs. Alekhine match :-)
The QGD has all the typical queens pawn structures, but in their most straightforward form, which is why quite a good idea for a learning player to start with that opening.

All 32 games! (of the 34 in the match).
Lol

I read some comments here and there (not an article) that QGD is best for post-beginner to learn chess because it can be positional or sharp. If this statement is true, what is the most common lines for positional play or tactical play? Thanks
I think that it is fairly common for a player to be advised to first learn the Queen's Gambit Declined. If nothing else, it is probably going to be easier to find recent introductory opening books like First Steps: The Queen's Gambit
https://www.newinchess.com/media/wysiwyg/product_pdf/7652.pdf
and The Queen's Gambit Declined: Move by Move.

It might be a good idea to consider Discovering Chess Openings by GM John Emms (2006).

You two are my favorite chess.com members so far. Please don't argue over that statement, by which I am offended at all.

There is no argument. I just dont get involved in his "passive-agressive" schtick. And im sure you understood i was not trying to be "offensive" to you when i posted that. And if we are your favorites? You need to aim higher :-)

I assume that the ELO display is your true OTB, it is higher enough for me to look up to. I mean, I can replay GM's game all day long without understanding a single move. But, it is pointless to do so. I rather read your comments and learn more about chess because your language is which I can understand.

I have a gift for keeping things simple :-)
I have been told that i explains thing well. So thats what i go with :-)
For novices, I take a term such as "tactical" when referring to an opening to mean not much more than early free play with the pieces, probably at the cost of some structural weakness. Something like the QGD Tarrasch Defense comes to mind. Generally, for novices, I take "positional" to mean an opening with blocked positions that involve protracted maneuvering behind pawn chains until the opening becomes "tactical."
i don't see any thing wrong with someone asking about the flavor of openings they're considering playing.
