Is there any good openings for beginners (800-1500)

I was wondering if there was any good openings to learn. I have been playing the Vienna as white and have been deciding between the Sicilian and the Caro-Kann (i also don't know if i prefer open games or closed). I have always played e5 against e4 and want to try something new so if their is any good openings for me to play, please list them. ( I am about 850 but i enjoy learning openings that are up to 1500) thanks

Another beginner that wants to play the most theory intensive opening around.

Stick with the basics.  Not hanging material, and not missing simple tactics.

Give the caro a try for a while, i think its a good introduction to positional chess. Although i will say id look into it a bit first. If you dont play the opening accuratly you can get into trouble quick.

General recommendation for beginners: defend 1 e4 e5 and 1 d4 d5 as black and open 1 e4 as white.

You need to have both your own start as white (pick one e4 and one d4 opening, the classics like the Ruy Lopez and the Queen's Gambit) , and get a couple of black replies in those openings, and then get one you'd like as Black as a response to e-4 to mess with your White opponent's groove. Caro-Kann is pretty.   And then you need to get your head around the Sicilian since it is so popular.

E4 E5 is usually recommended for beginners. However beginners as Black  often have to face d4. What is the best defence against d4 for beginners. Presently I am using the KID since its first moved are easy to learn but I am not sure KID is suited for beginners.

I'd say the Tarrasch Variation of the Queen's Gambit Declined. Black's pieces are active.  It's versatile in that it can also be reached against 1.Nf3 and 1.c4 players.

You'll still need to learn how to play against the London System because that seems to be the default opening for 1.d4 beginners.

It's a great opening. I'm not too good myself, but I did get some wins with it.

Chess Openings Tier Lists by GM Hikaru Nakumura and IM Levy Rozman

Chess openings are rated in terms of their appropriateness vis-a-vis player skill level - i.e., beginner vs intermediate vs GM’s, etc. For each of the openings discussed be sure to pay attention to whether the evaluation is from White’s or Black’s perspective. They also frequently refer to some openings as "garbage" or "bad"; these qualifiers are used in the context of, for example, how much so-called "theory" (i.e., documented variations) the opening encompasses, or how much emphasis the opening places on positional versus tactical skills in order to play it well. For example, an opening they refer to as "garbage" (an unfortunate choice of terms) for a beginner may in fact be appropriate for higher rated players who typically know more of the theory for particular openings and have a more highly developed understanding of positional concepts.
