I usually play d5 after Ng5. Things can get bloody in the center, but my experience is that black usually comes out even, with an intact kingside and sufficient counter-attacking possibilities.
Italian Game: Two Knights Defense, Traxler Counterattack (C57)

The Fried Liver Attack goes 4...d5 5.ed5 Nd5!? 6.Nf7, ergo the Traxler Variation is not a "defense" vs the Fried Liver Attack - it's another variation of The Two Kits Defense.

The idea is that black counterattacks on f2 with Bxf2, but to me it looks terrible and engines agree. Presumably it's not so easy for white to survive OTB.

This is probably the best known defense agianst the "Fried Liver Attack". I would like to know the point of the essential Bc5 move, and how you should continue if white plays Nxf7.
Txns for helping me. :D
