Italian Game Vs Ruy Lopez... which is mostly deployed

According to chesstempo, the Ruy Lopez is employed 5x as often as the Italian Game in master games.
But why is Ruy given more preference than Italian ??? 
It's wee bit harder for black to achieve equality with the Ruy and there are slightly better attacking chances for white, allegedly.
