The Italian is way better because it is a widely used opening and is easy to understand.

Italian game is easy to understand but complex openings gives a interesting game

Astrogash2009

Yes, Italian game is one of the most common openings, because chess.com founder "Danny" suggested Italian game is easy for beginners(in YouTube shorts) , that's why all 3 digits elo players play it

Does ant know about evans gambit

badger_song

When I began chess, I gradually learned all the major e4 e5 gambits, starting with Evans,Vienna,Scotch,Kings, and Danish. I liked them all, but preferred the Danish, which became my white opening of choice. They are all quite good, settling on one is just a matter of preference.

Astrogash2009

This game was called as traxlar counter gambit which is widely used by most of the black players , they can easily win queen . But when we analyse closely we can able to tackle it, by not accepting the bishop sacrifice

Are you guys are interested in chess.com clubs ?, shall we start a new chess.com club for Italian game or scotch game ,we will play daily puzzles of Italian game and Scotch game main lines

What is danish gambit i think it is a center game like e4 e5 , d4

Astrogash2009; the Danish starts via the Center Game 1.e4 e5 2.d4 exd and instead of 3.Qxd,white offers up the c pawn with 3.c3..and if black takes with 3...dxc, develops with 4.Bc4 offering up the b2 pawn...and if black takes that with 4...cxb white recaptures with 5.Bxb2. White has offered up three pawns in a row, and recaptured back just once, for very fast development and the speculative opportunities it presents. This usually means going full-on ooga-booga with a cavalry charge toward the enemy king. Among legitimate openings, whether played at amateur or titled level, the Danish Gambit is the least likely opening to end in a draw. The Scotch Gambit lines are close cousins to the Danish.

Astrogash2009

Yeah danish is also look good, but we need to struggle during the endgame because of too much lost pawn

But those pawns are good sacrifice because of the quick development and more pressure on king side

You are correct,Astrogash2009;white must smash through blacks' position in the middle game or face a lost endgame. Thats why most players skip openings that places them in that dilemma

The italians commonality is offset by the fact its move tree is massive, especially in the quiet lines. It's extremely rich and after a certain point you have to play it intuitively - the same is not true for the Scotch.

rat gets a full point for that profile pic.

I like playing the scotch because it develops both bishops and good attacking chances.

If you are playing against the scotch (e4 e5 nf3 nc6 d4 exd4 nxd4 play bc5 the classical variation and if nxc6, then qf6 the intermezzo variation. It is good against lower elo players because they might miss mate on f2.

I'm all for people playing the older, classical 1.e4 opening. A large minority of the time my Center Game/Danish ends up transposing into the Scotch Game.
