I do not condone the Grob, but 2.h3 refutes your refutation. I would play 3.hxg4 winning!
I've officially refuted the grob opening

I've successfully refuted the grob after move 2.
Like seriously, what's the point in even playing the grob if you're going to play a weak passive move like h3 on move 2? Literally the only compensation you get for playing the grob is you get an unusual and tricky attack that catches people by surprise. If you're going to focus on the most solid move possible as early as move 2, then there's no point in even playing the grob in the first place.
There are almost innumberable ways to refute the Grob so I'll just post another one:

Very sharp, good for black. Known as Romford Counter gambit
Yea falling for whites "trap" isnt even bad for black lol, black's still significantly better despite down the exchange
"... Then there are those moves with which White really tries to shoot himself in the foot, like 1 f3 or 1 g4. Out of loyalty to those unfortunates who have occasionally indulged in these strange moves in their youth, I shall not even give you the names of these 'openings'. …" - GM Paul van der Sterren in FCO (2009)
I can't help thinking that it would have been appropriate to give club players a little bit of warning about:

I like how some people cherry pick a line from an opening and then declare that it has been refuted. I played the Grob Attack for many years and wracked up quite a few victories with it. Honestly, underestimating it or treating it with contempt is a mistake.
So, rather than playing your pet line, a Grobster could simply play the Spike Attack variation with: 1.g4 d5 2.Bg2 c6 3.g5...
Magnus Carlsen himself recently only managed to draw against this line. You can check out the game on Youtube: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bl12BJY5SFE
Albiet, it was a 3 min. blitz game and mistakes were made on both sides of the board. However, I think that it's a testament to the infamous Grob when a world champion can only muster a draw against a lower rated player.

barely anyone plays the grob. it is the worst move to start the game. it weakens the kingside
i agree i do no like the opening

Mr. Grob is rolling in his grave. you can use the curl to power a city. I won against the Grub - the BIOS system of Ubuntu. You download Boot Repair Disk, and you can "Crush the Grub" - beat all the crushes of grub2.

Even this won't stop me from playing this opening. You may believe me or not, but I achieved my bullet and blitz ratings thanks to this system
Thank you Mr Grob for your blessed invention
IM Basman insisted in his book The Killer Grob that white should protect pawn g4 with 2 h3. Here are some games he won in the British Championship.

Using a combination of engine assistance + master games database + some googling, I've found the best refutation for the grob opening. After 12 moves, black is considered to be more than 2 pawns up, which is effectively winning! This is the main line, and things only get worse for white if he deviates:
I hope this clears things up once and for all!
