King's Gambit - Is it an enigma?

There has been a lot of things written about King's Gambit both for and against it for last few centuries! It is not settled, however, whether it can be played as white and can be accepted as black! I always wonder on this and try it whenever I have an opportunity both as white and as black with 50:50 success in both cases.

The above game was played in live chess with 2 min time limit and black did not play well making few blunders but I like it as an example of how the life of Black King can become like a ruined begger moving door to door before being check mated finally. It is somewhat amusing. Please share more good examples of this opening!

Here is another game. This time, although Black started in similar way but tried a different defensive tactics soon but unfortunately the fate of the Black King finally became similar!

This game was also played in live chess with 2 min time limit.

Nice games! Isn't 7.Kh1 - safely hiding behind the enemy pawn - supposed to be the appropriate move in this Cunningham Gambit?

Yes, I remember losing like this too!

Here is another game from Live Chess with 10 minutes time limit between players having ratings above 1400.

Here is another game where Black tried to decline but in a difficult and perhaps bad way by blocking his own d-pawn and made some more mistakes which again led the poor Black King go from door to door for shelter till Black was checkmated.

The above game was played in Live Chess with 2 second time limits.

Cool games.  I've been playing a lot of kings gambit games lately, any time someone will accept it I will play.  I'll play as black too but it's not offered often.  I have some really good games just like what you describe.  I also like to sack the bishop on f7 to prevent black from castling.

It doesn't always work, but I think it's a good opening especially for faster time controls.  It can yield very fast developing attacks with the kingside pieces.  Of course I'm playing people at around 1000 chess.com rating so it might not be as great of an opening for higher rated players!!

I take pretty much any gambit I'm offered. I say it is better to put the burden of proof on my opponent than let it be pushed onto me.

I say, let White prove it is a sound move. If they can't then I have an extra pawn that can be used as an end game advantage or converted to some other useful advantage.
