I would like to hear which gambit is considered better

The Queen's gambit by far. The King's gambit is purely for tricks at the high level but id say below 1800 its playable for sure.

Both are good.

Agreed… both are good.

I roll my eyes every time I read criticism of “XYZ” opening being bad because GM’s don’t play it.

A part of me thinks some of these people are upset because they are booked up on their fav main line defense and someone comes along and plays an opening based on knowing concepts instead of memorized lines.

A) most will never be a GM or a IM
B) opening choices by GM’s is a fickle decision.
B1) often predicated on what is trendy, hence uncharted.
B2) based on the fact his/her opponents know what they play and do serious prep beforehand. (hence multiple openings in both white and black)

Looking at data bases on line …Below 2400. outside risky gambits, anything that gets you to a middle game where end game strategy is understood is playable

Queen's Gambit by a noticeable amount, but by no means is the King's Gambit unviable. It has a niche purpose: forcing a very dynamic and dangerous game against a player rather weak in complicated positions, at which the King's Gambit has no equal. Standalone, it doesn't stand up to the viability of other openings that serious players employ, but it isn't necessarily bad.

The Queen's gambit by a mile. The Queen's gambit is a world class opening and considered White's strongest move after d4-d5, whereas the King's Gambit is 4th after e4-e5.

As other's say that doesn't mean the King's Gambit is terrible. It's a playable opening with no ironclad refutation. But objectively the Queen's Gambit is much better.

Queen’s by a country mile. QG is best play from White. KG (2. f4) is one of the worst available moves in the position as White. The only way to make it viable is to play the Berlin-Vienna Hybrid transposition to the Classical King’s Gambit Declined (1. e4 e5 2. Bc4 Nf6 3. d3 Nf6 4. Nc3 Bc5 5. f4 d6 6. Nf3 a6 7. f5)

GQ, but they are very different in purpose, almost being polar opposites. The QG player is positional, and wants a more calm game, while the KG player wants chaos and tactical fireworks. The KG player scoffs at things us mortals call principles, king safety, and material. Whats bad about being down material if you use the material you have 10x better?

Queen's is better.
