When I play the KID at my level, a common attacking idea white uses is to set up a Queen-Bishop battery, aiming to play bh6 and trade off the king's Indian bishop. I made a very bare-bones example to show you the very basic position
What are some thematic ideas to counteract this? The way I see it your options are either
Ignore the threat and continue development, allowing bh6 and bxg6 kxg6.
Ignore the threat and continue development, Then after white plays bh6 you recapture and white recaptures with the queen. Technically whites queen is in a weird spot here, but at my level white is still able to generate a scary attack if you give white a few tempo moves
Move the rook over, allow bh6, and play bh1. This saves the bishop, but it can be difficult to remove whites bishop from h6 in a lot of positions
Defend the h6 square, in this example you could possibly play Ng4 to protect the h6 square, but in many positions it is difficult to do so.
Don't allow the battery in the first place. This is possible in many middlegame positions if you can see it coming, but is difficult/impossible to do every time
None of these options are very appealing to me, and I often find myself in a very frustrating middlegame because of it.
