knight moves

I allways start with getting my knights out but are there other good moves. I always think of changing that stradigy but I never get around to it

I think it is safe to say that no other good moves exist :P

But seriously there are definitely some better opening moves than simply always moving your knights out, I would suggest looking up an opening you think suits you (the ruy lopez is a popular one) and learn a few lines into it.

But really knowing the technical openings is of minor use to a beginner.

Kupov

The ruy lopez opening.

Try getting your king pawn out with those knights.  Then get your bishops out to help control the centre of the board.

Kupov

Something like this, etc.

Dont listen to em thetman. Bishops before knights is a bad idea. Moving your knights out first is not a bad idea, it is a move that many top players have made, although at your level it might help your chess to push one of your central pawns and then develop your knight and bishop instead. I hope I have helped you.

that sounds intereting. ill try that

Knights first is generally the right idea. The knights have natural squares on f3 and c3, but Bishops can go to a number of places, so you usually await developments before deciding where to put them.

I am usualy not very content about getting my pawns out infront. I dont know why but this move II learned could be usefull

No that is an extremely bad idea do not try it. Stick with what I've told you and you will be alright :). Rich's opening is called the trompowsky attack and it is ok but I wouldnt suggest it for you yet. Maybe later after you are farther along in your chess development.

I ran into it at my local chess club. The guy who played it had brought along some books with him and showed me how it was played in the 1.d4 Nf6 2. Bg5 variation correctly. It looked like a pretty interesting opening, sure Ill join if you send me an invite.

Thanks guys, I've doing the opposite. Almost always bringing out my bishops first.
