More "sophisticated" opening

The Ruy Lopez is also considered very "sophisticated."
It goes 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5
It's very theoretical in most lines

What? Who told you the King's Gambit was unsound? It's a perfectly fine opening and if open and tactical positions are your style, then you should totally stick with it! Also chess.com is providing a great opportunity for King's Gambit players to improve with the Chess.com Universtity.

if you like 1. e4 and you like open, tactical games i suggest the following:
against 1...e5
- scotch game (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4); the goring gambit is quite fun as well (3....exd4 4. c3)
- the italian game is quite good as well (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4); and gets even better if your opponent plays into the evan's gambit (3...Bc5 4. b4)
against 1...c5
- sicilian defense: tartakower variation (1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. c3)
against 1...e6
- french defence: monte carlo variation (1. e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3. exd5 dxe5 4. c4)
against 1...c6
- caro-kann: panov attack (1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. exd5 cxd5 4. c4
against 1...e5 and 2...d6
- philidor defense: bird variation (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 exd4 4. c3
i guess i'll put these all into a diagram as well. obviously this isn't an exhaustive list, but it's good for a start.
I almost always play the King's Gambit. But I feel like (and people have told me) that if black plays well he can equalize quickly and possibly get this advantage. I feel hindered moving forward if I know that by playing the right moves in the opening someone can get ahead of me. Are there any opening that are more sound for white that have an open tactical style? Or do you think I should just move on to d4.
