my friend showed me this opener

All of these "quirky" openings seem to get shredded by halfway decent players let alone the really good ones.

if i play 1. h4, it may be unexpected, but you can't say it's powerful.  I personally would trade my bishops for the knights, because the doubled pawns are even worse on the rim then in the center.  not only can they not support each other, they can't support any other pawns and can only capture in one direction.  it's pitiful.

Well I think too much emphasis is put on pawn structure nowadays, IMO giving Black the Bishop pair would be way more compensation than he deserves..

One good thing: Anyone who thinks this is a good opening hasn't misspent their youth on chess.

knights on the rim are grim.

it gives up center control which will make your postional play throughout the game tough on yourself

i dont think its good at all, id like to v.s. your friend and show him how bad it is. lol
