exeter chess is a good place to start. 

 

And openings should not be your main focus at this point though..Learn tactics, basic strategy etc

i agree with erikido23...You should not focus on openings. If you are totally new to chess you should play a lot of matches, so that you learn to know all the pieces and the main principles of chess. Learn from your mistakes. Do tactics and puzzles. Also play stronger opponents and learn from them. If they beat you look what they did right and what you did wrong.

I agree that openings should not come first, however a good starting system is queens gambit as white and french as black.It all depends on your style of play, this is just what worked for me.

The main reason it would be pointless to learn openings at your level is that none of your opponents will play the lines you know... thus voiding all the time you put into learning them. When you improve and the reasoning behind each opening is understandable, then you should learn a couple.
