I'm a beginner and I'm using the Blue Book of Chess for instruction. One of the first games is called the Damiano Gambit. I've inserted the point of question. Its black's move. Seems obvious - based on points - that black's pawn should take the knight. The book says this is a very bad play. Why?
Yes, I see. I was looking at moves involving the bishop (C4) and queen (f3) , but there seemed to be too many ways for black to block that strategy to make the pawn takes knight move to seem bad. Thanks!
