Petition to rename the modern defense to the ultra-hyper-accelerated-dragon

The Dragon is a line of the Sicilian. That would require ...c5 from Black.
However, the "Modern" defense, which dates back to the 60s, is not so "Modern" any more!

The 'Modern Defence' as well as the 'Sicilian Defence' were already played in the 16th century.
When they say that an opening came into fruition in the 1960s, that does not mean it was played for the first time ever. People in the past occasionally played what was considered "offbeat" in that time. The move 1...e6 was played before 1834. The move 1...g6 was played before the 1960s
I am in the process of working on an article for a magazine for Larsen's Opening. Bent Larsen first played it in 1968. The fact that it is named after him does not make it the first time it was "ever" played. But if you look at Megabase 2021, The move 1.b3 was played 83 times in 1967 or earlier, all the way back to the 1850s. Of those 83 games, only 40 did not transpose to another opening like the English or Bird's Opening (or Bird-Larsen Attack). From 1968 to 2020, well over 25,000 games were played with 1.b3 that did not transpose to other openings! 40 games up to 1967, over 25,000 from 1968 onward.
So when they say an opening came about at a certain time period, they do not mean the first ever game or hand full of games. They are referring to the first time it ever gained SIGNIFICANT popularity.
I never said anything about when the Sicilian came about. Just the Modern. So your comment of the Sicilian's existence has zero relevance to post #4.
We have the Sicilian Dragon, the accelerated dragon, and the hyper-accelerated dragon. The modern defense should be called the "ultra-hyper-accelerated dragon" because you skip the Sicilian part altogether and go straight to fiencettoing your bishop.
