please teach me french defence

hey ... first learn the opening from youtube ... then watch many games played by grandmasters based on french defence ... youtube is really a great help ...

It is my opinion that deer in any country should not be fenced-in, particularly France, therefore I strongly urge you to stay away from the French Deerfence, and I urge my fellow man and my fellow woman and my fellow parakeets to work towards tearing down defences.

Old joke, Huey. The French once had the greatest army in the world. Today, the French are often at the forefront along with the US in UN actions.
The Paris attack last November makes the joke even less funny.

So you wish to De-Fence France?
Yep, unless you want to get lazy with the Jalfrezi.

I know I repeat myself, but they had enough guts to give their royals what they deserved.
Oh deer, sounds dangerous.

GM Simon Williams has several free videos explaining different lines in the French on his YouTube Channel. Search for French on his channel and you'll get the most relavant vids. You should know that he has a highly attacking style, so if you're looking for other ways to play the French, you might look elsewhere, but this seems like a great place to start. Good luck.

A highly attacking style for the French...hm.
I know it sounds funny, given that most French Defense positions seem ridiculously passive. But there are some lines that Black can play to be more aggressive. I don't like playing the French myself, as I find that it is usually too passive for my taste, but if I went through Simon's vids I'm sure I'd feel more comfortable with it. Anyway I was just trying to help respond to the OP.
i have to play french defence in tournaments . is there someone who wiil explain me ?
