Queen's Pawn Game openings?

Hello. I'm relatively new to chess, and i've always been playing king's pawn games (1.e4) and i want to start playing around with 1.d4. it seems pretty popular in gm games, and always playing the italisn game/ruy lopez is getting boring.

problem: i have no clue what openings i should think about playing. and i'm wondering if some regular d4 players could give suggestions? 

I've heard of the Queen's gambit (1.d4 d5 2.c4) but i dont know where it leads to. (and i generally play the budapest against it as black)

any suggestions would be appreciated. my goal is to find one or two openings i really enjoy (i enjoy open games and i guess i'm more tactical than positional) and build my repertoire of openings xD. 

Play QG if you play 1.d4. It's good and intresting.
