Rapport-Jobava System - looks really strong

4...e6 immediately looked to me chess.com's players strange attraction to the triangle of pawns, at some point playing Bf5 looks more natural. A quick check with database confirmed this was case, and not just my biase. After that it quickly diverged from what Rapport or Jobava would play from either side really.
There is no reason why the opening shouldn't be playable of course, and with white can get away with just about anything anyway. Personally prefer to play more straightforward openings.
you developed in a very passive way, 3... e6 is better and Black is slightly better because the Knight on c3 is misplaced
It is rather harmless
Indeed solid defense was played with ...c5 and the A typical London/Barry attack was thwarted ... but 6. f3 was just a bad move all the way around. And White still was in the game till the end. By move 16 White looked regrouped and was looking like he could start an attack.... the standard...f5 push... in these positions i.e. blocking any tactics stemming from the Bishop at d3 was played...
Text book defense against a D-pawn varient. Harmless though.... meh......

It's played successfully at GM level. Hans Niemann has a course on it.
I think it's one of the best options at club level. It's very tricky, and one huge benefit is the actual repertoire is extremely compact. From the chigorin system the most common alternatives are a french and a pirc, which can always be played, difference here is usually the opponent didn't want to play them. The caro-kann can be transposed into the Jobava in most cases. There are a couple noteworthy chigorin sidelines but they're not hard to learn and the opponent rarely knows how to play them anyway.
What do you think?
I thought it was a silly system - trying to put my knight on a6, okay, I defend, and...?
But no - suddenly 5 of his pieces are aiming at my kingside, and I can't develop quickly enough to get out of the attack...
Okay I won because this opponent has made silly mistakes, but still, wow.. never seen such pressure.
