You better quit aborting just because your opponent plays 1.d4. You'll lose rights if you do that here. There is a penalty for frequent aborting.
You can't just play against 1.e4. You have to learn how to defend against 1.d4, 1.c4, 1.Nf3, 1.g3, 1.b4, 1.b3, 1.Nc3, etc. The first 3 (along with 1.e4) are far more common than the others.
The Modern Benoni (1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 c5 3.d5 e6 4.Nc3 exd5 5.cxd5 g6()leads to a fairly open position.
Hi, I'm struggling to find openings with an open position. I have been playing the scotch and petroff recently. I don't really think they're anything special though. Against d4 I just abort the game because I only face it like twice a day at my rating of 1700.
