You could play Nc3 and avoid the Stafford entirely

Who would play 6. Bg5? You don't have to know any theory to realize that is going to be extremely dangerous and they would have to check it and realize it doesn't work. I am pretty sure the point of the Stafford gambit is the attack on the king side after 6. Be2, not imaginary moves anyone over 1000 wouldn't pay.
