Concerning the loss of castling privilege in the exchange variation for white, when Queens are off the board castling is not as important. White's King is centered for the end game where white has a 4-3 pawn structure advantage on the King side. Black's queenside majority is doubled and white best defends on the queenside with pawns on a3, b2 and c3.
