I am looking for materials and insight from experience on starting and running an after school chess club/program. 

I have never played an official OTB game, strictly social games on here, Chessmaster, or sometimes at the coffeeshop. My rating on here is about class D. I love the game of chess and value its strengths as an educational tool for kids.

Any information of use would be appreciated.

Being an American, check out the USCF website. They have quite a bit of material on scholatic chess and how to organize a scholastic club.
