Share your experience and reasons to play the King's Indian Defense

As a long time Kings Indian player, I have for a long time considered getting rid of it because of 1 line specifically that seems to be a major problem for Black.
1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.e4 d6 5.Nf3 O-O 6.Be2 e5 7.O-O Nc6 8.d5 Ne7 9.Ne1 Nd7 10.Be3 f5 11.f3 f4 12.Bf2 g5 13.Rc1!!
Now 13...Ng6 is ineffective and many KID books can tell you why (too detailed to put here). Some have tried 13...a6 but it wastes time and allows White to accelerate his attack.
That leaves the highly topical 13...Rf6 and the pawn sacrifice is critical, 14.c5, but so is 14.b4 or 14.Nd3. For example, 14.b4 Rh6 15.c5 Qe8 16.Nb5 Qh5 17.h4 (forced) and now 17...Ng6 18 g4! fxg3 19 Bxg3 Nf4 20 Nxc7 and Black has tried 20...Rg6 (which White should play 21.Kh1) and it seems flaky at best. I have an ICCF correspondence game going with 14.Nd3 instead of 14.b4 with 17...Ng6, but I am trying out a different approach at moves 20 and 21 which I will not expose as the game is ongoing at this point.
The alternative at move 17 (back to the 14.b4 line) is 17...gxh4 where I think White is way better after 18.Nxc7 h3 19.g4 fxg3 and I think both 20 Nxa8 Qg5 21.Kh1 h2 and 20.Bxg3 h2+ 21.Kh1 Qh3 22.Bf2! are basically losing for Black.
If I lose this correspondence game, it might be the straw that breaks the camel's back where I shift to either the Dutch, Nimzo, QGD, or Tango.
If I win or draw, maybe I have found a novelty!
