Should I Use Chat Gpt To Study Chess (Please Respond)

I’ve been using chat gpt to study chess recently and have found it quite helpful. what I did is I asked chat gpt to give me all the most common lines of the ruy Lopez and then made it go into great detail on every line, sub line and variations. I played all the variations on an actual chess board and have learned a lot on it. I know that a lot of people find chat gpt very unhelpful when it comes to chess and I have found some mistakes in the lines like trying to move a pinned knight and so on but these only come in sub variations. but over all it has been very helpful and I even checked some of the lines that chat got gave me love by move with other chess websites and found the same main lines. I’ve found that I get basically a free course when normally they would cost a lot.I just wanted your guys opinion and thought on this matter. I’m 1300 elo btw.

Chatgpt a good way to study imo, you can ask it questions like if you're studying on a certain opening. You can get it to teach you the opening, then ask it to give you simple questions for that opening like if pawn goes 3f, etc etc. You give it an answer and see if its right. If you still don't get it you can ask chatgpt for some examples of situations on what it would do.

No I’ve been doing that, I just wanted to know other people’s opinions on the subject because I feel a lot more people should be doing this, I have now greatly expanded my knowledge on the ruy Lopez and will soon be doing that for an e 6 Sicilian

Because I've seen it makes a lot of mistakes and illegal moves. It's better to use the analysis board on lichess. You can see all the most popular master level moves, engine preferred moves and most popular amateur level moves.

Yes but I have found that chat gpt knows main lines and side lines when it comes to describing them, unlike when you actually play against it, I’ve found it quite helpful.

Use Chessable. It has many free opening courses and is much more reliable than ChatGPT, and you can sign in with your chess.com account. Here is a link to a free GM course on the Ruy Lopez: https://www.chessable.com/short-sweet-grandelius-s-ruy-lopez/course/83355/
