Sicilian Defense 2.Bc4 solution

I think White has to play 4.a4 there.
The last time I played this in blitz I ran into 4.a4 Nc6 5.d3 Nf6 6.Bg5 h6 7.Bxf6 Qxf6 8.Ne2 Bd6 9.O-O g5 and couldn't really find a good plan. I was skeptical about this and ran it in an engine. I found it played those exact moves as Black... But it looks effective anyway.

yeah i got tired of seeing 2.Bc4 and had to come up with some variations against it because that 2.Bc4 is getting way outta hand lol. And hopefully people that love playing the sicilian can benefit from this and come up with their own plans against that move.
Considering the lengths some white players will go to to avoid the mainline Sicilians I' m really surprised that this move, and the delayed version (ie. 2. Nf3 3. Bc4) don't have more theory dedicated to them. They're no worse than many other anti-Sicilians which allow black to equalise.
Snippet from wikipedia...
"2.Bc4 is the Bowlder Attack, and though once played at the highest level, is popular today only among club players or beginners who are unfamiliar with the Sicilian and are looking either to attack the weak f7 pawn or to prepare for a quick kingside castle. However, after a move such as 2...e6, Black will soon play ...d5 and open up the centre while gaining time by attacking the bishop. Anderssen–Wyvill, London 1851 continued 2..e6 3.Nc3 a6 4.a4 Nc6 5.d3 g6 6.Nge2 Bg7 7.0-0 Nge7 8.f4 0-0 9.Bd2 d5 10.Bb3 Nd4 11.Nxd4, and now Soltis recommends 11...cxd4! 12.Ne2 Bd7!"

Litalter noooooo i am saying that this is something BLACK can use against 2.Bc4... i NEVER use 2.Bc4 when i play against the sicilian, i love the art of the sicilian too much to use the anti-sicilians and if i do use anti's then it will be 2.c3 but after 2... d5 then yeah its a rap.

Scottrf my computer analyzed each position for 5 minutes each getting the best moves for white against this variation. The point of this is to help you get a BETTER position. A more ACTIVE position. At the last position you should be able to handle everything from there.

So as black, we will always have a good position, so long as our opponent plays only computer-perfect moves, with the exception of move number two, which he plays like a buffoon?

But as long as we're going ahead and engaging in flights of chessic fancy, I kind of like to answer 1.e4 c5 2.Bc4 with ...d4?!, which I'm convinced isn't much worse than equal, and freaks the hell out of the Bowdlers.

d4 is dodgy without being able to recapture with the knight. It also looks pretty necessary to prevent b5 as Titan says.
White gets his pieces completely tangled. If that's computer perfection you can keep it.

There are good ideas, I'm just saying that perhaps other variations will be more critical. I dunno, maybe I'm wrong.

just play e6 and let whites bishop bite on granite for the whole game. Problem solved. (Its called the Bowlder attack because its like going after a martial arts expert with a really big rock and expecting it to work)
This is an answer to silician lovers who get tired of this 2.Bc4
