Sicilian dragon move order

Hello,

Concerning terminology, I will use wikipedia names. (that way if you don't like it, feel free to change them ^^)
Dragon variation : 1.e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 g6

Accelerated dragon : 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cxd4  4.Nxd4 g6

According to several authors, the advantage of the Dragon move order, is that by introducing Nf6 Nc3, it prevents white to play with a maroczy bind formation (with c4 before playing Nc3). And the advantage of the accelerated dragon, is that by not playing d6, you're allowed to play d5 in one move, which somehow counters the Yugoslav attack with 7. Bc4. (which is still playable, but doesn't scare accelerated dragon players as much as the maroczy)

So my question concerns the following move order : 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cxd4  4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 g6. It seems to me that it combines both advantages. But it's not that much played in the database, and it doesn't have so great results, so what's wrong with it ? What does it allows that is not possible in the other move orders ?

Thanks

This is why, Nxc6 followed by e5 gives issues for black. Some tried to play it, with the idea that e5 may be a target or gives some square (f5 for example) for black pieces, but it's dubious or bad for black.

From what I've seen people usually captures with the d pawn, which allows Nd5 if white plays e5. The endgame after the queen exchange seems ok, maybe a bit drawish ?

White will follow with 0-0-0 with an easier position. Maybe black can hold but not fun for him/her...

I don't understand why black would capture w/ d pawn. It just loses castling rights and a central pawn. I like your idea though. Against players around our rating I go for the accelerated dragon because 1. I often don't have the Maroczy Bind played against me and 2. It just seems more natural to me since getting the pawn to d5 is important in the Sicilian. But just my thinking. Good luck on your chess!
