Sicilian Fans: What do you like to play vs. 1.d4?

Just wondering.

The Sicilian has a ton of variations that can be played by both tactical and positional players alike (often you need to like both/be more universal in the Sicilian)

1.e4 and 1.d4 lead to different characters of games but it would be interesting to see if there are some common combinations.

By the way, post what Sicilian variation you play since that may have an effect on what opening you play vs. 1.d4.

Personally, I play the Najdorf/Schev and prefer just going with the symmetrical 1..d5 and the Semi-Slav (The Exchange is annoying though but whatever). I'm guessing a lot like KID or Grunfeld though, maybe even the Dutch but going on an all out, sometimes crude attack isn't for me...

Ah, the thing that got me away from playing the KID was the Bayonet Attack. It seems like Black just gets killed on the queenside in this--I play it as white and it seems that after 9...Nd7 or 9...Ne8, white just plays c5,Nd2-c4,Ba3 and gets pressure on d6.

(9...Nh5 is better but white seems to emerge with an advantage after [Shirovs?] rook sac on e5 in the line where Black retreats to f6 and white plays 12.Bf3 c6. 13.Bb2 h6 14.Ne6 Bxe6 15.dxe6...) Of course, many top players such as Radjabov play the KID and its a great opening but its just that I love white's game of this opening so much that I don't feel comfortable with it as Black.

Silfir

As Black, I play the Four Knights variation against e4, and the Slav against d4, going into a Semi-Slav later. I also play the Anglo-Slav (I think?), and 1...d5 against 1.Nf3, 1.g3, 1.f4 and so on.

Sceadungen

used to play the Benko Gambit, long time ago, then they all started avoiding it. so went Grunfeld, then they all started avoiding that.

When I was younger I did the Sicilian Dragon and KI stuff, but its just too complicated for me. The number of incredibly complex variations involved with just the Yugoslav attack is mind-boggling. And as a master once told me, you have to constantly find a series of very strong moves to play the KI against strong players (I guess that's why Fischer, Kasparov, Bronstein, Tal, etc.were able to play it). And Korchnoi said the KI is just a positionally bad opening. Now as black I play more conservative openings, but my results are at least as good.
