Smashing the French

i love playing against the french there are 2 trick gambits i use :), the french gambit and the reti gambit

zomgep, I also used to play the reti gambit against the french, but normally black doesn't trade away his dark square bishop because white will own the dark squares

If you want to study the French more in depth, look no further than Vinay Bhat's articles. He plays French vs 1. e4 very often.

Personally, as a huge fan of the French, I find the Tarrasch (3. Nd2) gives me problems.

Also, in the Winawaw variation, I don't like 4. Qg4 or 5. Qg4, which usually rips Black's kingside in to shreds - useful against beginners, who usually just look at material.
