Everytime I play this opening against the sicillian I always end up with a winning position and or a better one. Yes I might lose here and there from this postion, but my point being is that I have a winning postion or at least a better one. I would love to here your comments feel free to speak your mind

Heres one of my games I will try to post more games if I can find them

This one below is just a diagram of what i am talking about and I couldn't find more games but I will look for more.

Push at 5. ..e5 and you'll have a better defense for black. Besides, I don't see how white has any advantage in this position. Obviously 10. ..e5 would be bad at that stage in the game, but black has other alternatives.

dark_wizard101

If black pushes e5 on move 5 then white just does Bb5 then either they trade off the light square bishops and then whites knight jumps to f5 or once Bb5 happens black puts Nbd7 and white still puts his knight at f5 and is now attacking blacks weak d pawn

Ah!    I play this as black.

   blacks plan is to

 1. exchange some pieces to releave his slightly cramped position

 2. create an artificial outpost for his knight on c5

 3.  wait for white to play a stupid move like Nd5

   for example

10...........Nxd4! (uncramping)   11.Bxd4...Bc6    12.Qd2...a5 (strengthening the outpost on on c5 for the knight by preventing a later b4)

    13.0-0.....Nd7!(uncramping)   14.Bxg7...Kxg7     15. Qd4+...Kg8

    16. Nd5?!..... Bxd5! and black has the superior minor piece in the endgame

now of course white can play better but his position is not as dominating as it appears

mosqutip

Just because you've won against opponents who make mistakes doesn't mean the opening is flawed. I'd rather take black's position from the diagram and play the sicilian out.

Rob can you post the hedgehog for me thanks in advance..... and mosqutip I just think white is better and if white exchanges his light square bishop early or gets it out the pawn chain he will be that much more better

This looks like a Maroczy Bind.  The thing is that Black doesn't have to play into your setup with g6 and could easily play a Hedgehog or play the immediate e5.  They equalize very easily.  I'm not even sure White has a substantial advantage in the diagrammed position

Black is ok against Maroczy Bind with a fianchetto set up. Read below from my blog post:

Good day, my blog readers!

Today is yet another interesting game using the Hyper Accelerated Dragon move order. Apparently, the drawback of the move order allows White to achieve a Maroczy Bind set-up with 4.c4 which makes it harder for black to free his position by the pawn thrust ...d5. But I personally who plays the black side don't get too annoyed by the somewhat slow and quiet character of the resulting positions. I actually feel more safer to face the Maroczy Bind than facing the Yugoslav Attack where white has more aggressive attacking moves available where black is more compelled to play accurately or suffer being checkmated early.

As it would be as always in my blog posts, there are basically 3 parts. First, as above,is an introduction, then to follow is the illustrative game and the last part would be my suggested references so you can further investigate the topic at hand and hopefully make you a stronger chess player.

The game that I am going to share here is another 5 min blitz game. Here I want to show how most white players are not really familiar with the subtleties of the opening with a Maroczy Bind set-up. Most white players are more familiar with other open Sicilians.

Referrences I am recommending for this topic are:

There are more games to follow and I think more exciting than the one posted here in the future. So dont forget to bookmark my blog here so you wont miss them in my next posts.

Thank you.

That was good chess magic, but I play the Maroczy Bind differently and it can also arise from the philodor postion. I have a couple of games where I have this postion. I will soon post them once my game or games is complete. Rob about your comments.......  I have yet to see the hedgehog formation yet and I wouldn't push a3 just yet, I might not even push it at all in the game. I would do f3 to support e4 and b3 to help support c4 and stay solid unitl the right time is correct to strike
