An early ...d5 is usually best. Either 1.e4 c5 2.f4 d5, or more usually 1,e4 c5 2.f4 Nc6 3.Nc3 e6 4. Nf3 d5.
Strategy against grand prix attack

Definitely IM pfren is perfectly right when referring to Tal's gambit so I should have corrected the move order in my example - sorry for that.
However, the principle setup for other variations stays the same after 2.Nc3 Nc6 3.f4. This is also recommended by T. Rotella in "Killer Sicilian". I also play this setup with White when playing the English opening (1.c4) with the exeption of 1.c4 e5 2.g3 f5 3.d4... (same idea and found in Marin's "English Opening Vol. 1").
SuperNyaher: If I understand your post correctly you are asking for the pawn breaks which would be either ...f5 or ...d5 or even queenside play for Black. I always hesidate with ...f5 as I prefer the rather (subjectively) secure queenside expansion. Objectively there are normally better choices than mine. Maybe IM pfren wants to share his opinion on that as he is definitely the much better player.
White formation is very simple and very unpleasant for black. Like in this game.
And now white queen will sit there forever which is very unpleasant. What can black do to avoid this nonsense?
