Stonewall Opening : Issues with variations

I was trying my hands on Stonewall opening. Till now all the games that i noticed were played on same sequence of moves by black. But it becomes really tricky because of its dependence on the opponent.

What results in even slight variations is a loss for white as pieces are not fully developed and are blocking each other. This might me my opinion and I have not gotten a chance to play too much with this opening. Any suggestions on how to counter? especially if blacks LSB moves early and acquires the diagonal hitting at c7 pawn.

Hi Ausculators--unfortunately the Stonewall is not known to offer healthy chances versus a strong defender.  Think of it as a 20-move checkmate that succeeds against legions of novice humans or older computers.  Against more veteran players though, you run a high risk of landing in a lost endgame because of your backwards e-pawn, light-squared holes, and miserable c1 bishop.  Against an early ...Bf5 by black, there isn't a whole lot you can do to avoid trading with Bd3; even if you find an answer, there's also the ...b6/...Ba6 plan to achieve the same thing, or just ...g6 with ...Bg7 to keep h7 out of reach.  Try to get your dark-squared bishop off the board by traveling to d2, then e1, then out to h4 for an exchange on f6 or another kingside square.  That's your problem piece and it's all you can really do to increase your chances of late survival.
