 The Alekhine's Defense has always looked strange to me.  Some variations are almost comical looking.  The four pawns attack is: 1.) e4, Nf6 2.) e5, Nd5 3.) d4, d6 4.) c4, Nb6 5.) f4.  Here White has four pawns in the center.  Meanwhile Black has moved his Knight three times, and does not have a pawn in the center.
