The best counter for Benko's Opening (g3)?

Hi, I am a relatively new chess player and was wondering if, say, white were to play Benko's opening, what would be the most suitable opening for black? Should black proceed to attempt to control the center? The thing is if black does go for the center, Benko's opening is great at attacking over-extended pieces that have gone too far forward so is there a good counter to this? Thanks.
