The Italian Game: Fried Liver Attack is bad

In my opinion, the fried liver attack (the one where they recapture the pawn) is good, but the knight attack with 5. ... Na5 is better for black, as they have the initiative, and the position in my opinion is better for black. I used to play the fried liver, but it was never fun to me, just "hey another win. Yippeee....." Never looked back.

So if both sides know the best line it is fine, but if the attacker doesn't know why they need to play certain moves for different attacks then it is a dodgey opening for that person to go into.

7...Ke8 is just losing- Blck has to bite the bullet and play 7...Ke6, where white has ample compensation for the piece after 8.Nc3 Ncb4 9.0-0.
And yes, either 5..Na5 or 5..b5 are better moves than recapturing the d5 pawn.

Pretty sure you coloured the moves yourself. No engine would say that about these moves
Yes, they did.

5...Nb4 (the Kloss gambit) is also playable, but it's really tricky.
