The Queenikazee Opening

Sort:

As I was browsing thru some games on here, I found this beautiful bloodthirsty gem that I'm sure cannot be found in any book of openings (at least I can't find it anywhere - so I get to name it Cool ).

The Queenikazee Opening not only trades off Queens early, but white takes down a  black pawn, rook, and knight with her!!  There are 5 captures in the first 6 moves!!  Not since The Bride in Quentin Tarantino's movie Kill Bill have I seen one woman responsible for so much carnage!!  Wink

It would appear that black makes many blunders in this opening, and is sacrificing too much material for the lead in development to be worth it.  If this game continued to be a full-scale massacre of black by white, then I would have chalked it up as a severly imbalanced game.  BUT BLACK WON THIS GAME!!!

This got me curious as to how this would go if the same players played this opening from BOTH sides.  So I have created The Quick Queenikazee Tournament to test it out.  I'm also curious as to the minimum time that a tournament can be completed in, so I have this one set with all the fastest possible settings.  The games are unrated (since this is just an experiment), but since there is no way to start the tournament from a position that's not already in their database of openings, I need to make this an Invitation-Only Tournament, and work on the "honor system."

The first 3 people to contact me (send me a message), and state explicitly that they agree to follow these opening moves (please state the moves in the message so that I know that you know what you are agreeing to) will get to play.

Here is the opening:

Here is the Custom Trophy that's up for grabs:

You can try it, but it will only work against you on higher rated opponents.
Im sorry but black really blundered, and white had a lucky shot.
If black won it was due to the rest of the game

the_menace

The moves made by black are the worst move possible for that scenario. If you put 15 of your pieces in front of my queen, I'll go through to them too just as quick.

Billium248

Exactly - it was due to the rest of the game - and who would have predicted that black would win after that?  That's why I'm curious to see how often it would play out that way.  Out of 6 total games in the tournament (only 3 players) how many do you think will go for white and how many for black?  So far it's 0-1.

BTW... that's also why I made the games unrated

bastiaan

If there is still room left, and I can join another tournament, I will.

Unless the players are well matched by rating, the outcome will be determined by their relative ratings - not the initial position.

you're right. But maybe it's the only thing that can save black.

Koravel

White wins that game every time, unless White plays really really bad.

Gouda_Pompijn

Then I would definitely lose playing white :D

yoff

The development of the bishop is by no means ample compensation for black. White has to blunder as much as black has done to lose that game...

Billium248

Well Bastiaan wasn't able to enter cuz he's maxed out on tourneys at the moment, but we do have our first contestant - Kelz

Who else is willing to see if they can overcome this obvious handicap?

Also, the system didn't like the Killer Queen picture, so I had to switch the trophy to this:

baltic

Brothers... if white simplifies to an endgame black losses the game.Wink

Is there no one else brave enuf to try the Queenikazee?  The games are not rated, so there's really nothing to be scared of.

This opening has a name is quite well known... its a bit of a trap that weak players try and will eventually fail miserably with. The name has slipped from my brain, but I know it was named after an insane assylum in Boston.

Sconsc

Kasparov shouldn't be able to win that one with black against anyone decent at this game.

I don't think the reason for the lack of entries is that people are scared, but people don't want to waste their time.  This will only work on amateur players.  Sad to say it worked on me when I first started chess...

omnipaul

The new trophy convinced me.  As you said, it's unrated, so there's no real risk.  I still doubt Black has any real chances, though.

Alright!!  We've got our 3 players!!  Good Luck Everybody!!

I never thought anyone would consciously play that as a defense.  It's similar to how players don't consciously play Legall's Mate or the Scholar's Mate as a defense to 1. e4. Wink

I think that is a very good comparison.  So just as players should beware of Scholar's Mate and Legall's Mate, they should also beware the Queenikazee!!  ("Don't play this move as it leads to the Queenikazee.")  The tournament took only 8 days to complete, and white won all 6 games (as everyone predicted), so EVERYONE got the Custom Trophy!!!  Congratulations to the 3 brave souls who tried to duplicate a win for black!!!
