I think dan's thread is totally lecit, his post is informational rather than promotional. Storey wrote a very long piece shameless promotion about how great his books are.

Uhh... I have found another hilarious forum thread, where the author announces he will run for ECF President.

Most of his "program" is more laughable than his book.

This can't be real can it?!?!? Surely it was a joke! I have not heard of Charlie Story until this thread I am typing in, but for an intelligent guy (he'd have to be to be FM) he says some very questionable things. I'm sure there is a lot I could learn from his book at my level but:

1) Spam advertising in forums is just wrong and loses my respect

2) The author cannot take critisicm is seems. I feel this would limit what can be taught...

Having dug arround as well as visited the OFFICIAL FIDE ratings list, I wonder as to how the FM title was awarded. I have never questioned this before, but how has one achieved the title having never touched the 2300 live rating to obtain it?

As for point 2 that is totally true!!

give the man a break guys. I was recommended the book by an IM as I was fed up of anti siccilian lines to avoid the dragon. The IM who mentioned the royal pain has the point to my mind as I think this is what Emms recommends in attacking with e4. As a player well past his hay day, tired of opening theory, systems despite their drawbacks save on the workload to some extent. Anyway Charlie was a nice guy when I knew him so I just wanted to stick up for him.

You will be please to know that The Analysis was from 2009 and you are correct a few lines are bust - as happens with any opening - especially Black. However I am confident that you will not be able to select any weak Black lines from the follow on book on The Sniper called The Sniper Reloaded 2014 - And yes in 5 years time the next update on The Sniper will be The Sniper Revoloutions! For all you matrix fans out there. I have now won 112 UK Opens and the reason for this is that I use The Sniper to win with Black - because most other opening are to easy for lower rated to draw with White - Yes it sometimes comes with more risk - but to win a UK Open you will need more that 1.5/3 with Black and the reason I have won more Open tournaments than anyone else in the UK is not really talent - its my creative ability with Black to produce 2/3 points out of 3. So before you make any criticism of my 2009 effort you may want to think of the Praxis elements of playing The Sniper - because the proof is evidenced by a lowly FM recording more Open victories in the UK even than many many strong Grandmasters. If you would rather learn The Sniper Reloaded 2014 properly as part of a targetted Fide Master Training Course I suggest you contact me or listen to disgruntled envious Masters that have created very few or no publishing works because they are frightened to be shot at! (Pun Intended)  Snipers - get ready for Reload.

Rydeberg

Is that the measure of one's ambitions? To win more UK opens of 5 rounds? How about mentioning all the International tournaments in the UK you have chickened out? Was it your creative ability that as soon as one loses a non Sniper game one withdraws? Or how about blackmailing tournament organisers in the UK FOR FREE accomodation and travel AS if you are a GM?

So my suggestion is before dishing out comments about everyone else and I quote "disgruntled envious Masters" I STRONGLY suggest you revisit your DIRTY, FILTHY, IMMORAL past and limit passing judgements about other.

NOTE: your actions and behaviour is what generates commentes by others. Not the book!

Jion_Wansu

Is it better or worse than the opening I invented (German Opening) with its several lines...

So the abuse commences with;

I have already ordered a truck of popcorn, and I'm waiting for the revised version of a bunch of very crappy lines.

In the worst case, I will just enjoy the popcorn

Why would someone who is a 'Chess Master' swear on this forum about a chess opening.

There is some problem here  - why would anyone write such gibberish about a person that has won over 120 UK Opens designed many Chess Courses - currently coaches THE BEST under 11 in the country and runs a Kids Chess Camp - It saddens me that people like this are a part of the chess community. As for poor lines I won the Northumberland County Chess Championship with 7/7 playing the Sniper in every round....that's a 240 ECF rating performance....as for not playing in FIDE events... I don't because I live in North East England where there is not any (or extremely rarely) That's why I've won so many Opens and its because The Sniper offers more winning chances for Black (as opposed to increasing drawing chances in other openings) Rather than goading me why not just take a 1 hour lesson and I'l explain The Sniper Reloaded 2014 to you properly rather than swimming in your ignorance.  Maybe we should have a Sniper match with the weak IM and I'l play The Sniper in every game so you can prepare - then I'l smash you up and you can have no excuses about the awesomeness of The Sniper Reloaded 2014.

I have just checked out the profile of Rydeberg (I'l not mention his name to prevent further embarrassment on his part)

2 Years ago he offered to sell me his entire book collection as he was giving up chess I agreed and we settled on a price.

I was intending to use his outdated books as free prizes for the kids in the many junior clubs I run.

I sent him the money via Paypal.

Suddenly he said " he did not want to sell the books and he would not return the money " - a fine example of a tradesman!

I asked him politely to return the money he declined,

Next I told him I would contact the police because he was being fraudulent - he then returned the money.

He now comes on here attempting to undermine my good reputation and works because I taught him a valuable business lesson.

That is where his poor attitude lies and will remain until he genuinely realises I did him a great favour - to call that Blackmail, is what I call using the law against immoral fraudulent business practice.

If he attempts any more deffamation upon my good charachter I will use 'the malicious communications act' and initiate my next legal move

I await your response ( and an apology) from your attempted fraud and misguided anxst against my good works.

Because the Sniper is a pet system, not an opening.

Stop pretending your pet can survive in the wild.

No.

Could you tell me what the diffrence is as it seems the same black moves in both... the main aim is to swap the black bishop for the whites queen Knight and double the white pawns on the C file.... have read the Sniper and found it intresting and also have GM Ron Henley's Dzindi Indian dvds and book... so maybe i'm missing something... thanks...

The "same Black moves" are not the same opening. It takes two to tango.

The Sniper is a positionally suspect opening which fails to justify itself tactically, while the Dzindzi is a positionally sound opening which fails tactically. Both are sort-of-OK to play against low to mid rated players, but that's all.

I understand the diffrence now! Does the Dzindzi not work well at club level, tactically as many do not play it! but not so at Gm level.... thanks.
