The special opening-the english dragon.

'The english dragon' is a special opening made up by myself, quite like English opening, hope you all can analyze every variation.

Looks like a rather quiet english setup. You can find some examples of it in every database.Generally speaking g3 is very common in the english.

In your proposed variation against 2...Bb4+, 7...b6? loses a pawn to 8.Nxe5 since the Nc6 is pinned to the rook.

9.Qb3 looks strange to me. What is the queen supposed to do here?

zschess

It just to devolop the queen, thanks for your advice.

bresando

The queen is a somewhat special piece which is often developed enough without moving thanks to his high mobility. Here the problem is that W will often aim at a queenside expansion with a3 and b4, and the queen on b3 is definitely interfering with this plan.

Oh!

d3 is too early. Many variations where it can reach d4 in one move. Yes the English has a quiet reputation but there are dynamic lines to be found. Blacks e4 is no danger, your system is safe but lacks dynamism. As someone stated earlier the normal queenside expansion is there for you and leads to repetive but safe play for white but on the other hand not that dangerous for black.

Of course there are dynamic lines, i meant that this particular line is very quiet. There's nothing wrong with the english as a whole.

Didn't mean to dismiss your idea. It's fine. Played the English myself for 30 years. Quiet is ok and many black players drift away into a bad position not noticing the latent problems posed by the inherent solidity of the English. Although as a Scotsman I prefer to call it the Scottish or Banockburn attack. Staunton, the great self promoter, junped the gun by giving it that monicker all those years ago!

The reversed Dragon is ok to play, but keep in mind you do not enter it unless black plays d5. It is common to develop knights and to play g3 first, rather than d3 yes. If black does not play d5, you've got a common English 4 knights in a few moves usually.
