Tips for playing 1.g3

I've always been a fan of the hypermodern systems, and I was wondering if any veterans could share some of the tricks of Benko's opening.

From what I've gathered so far, the opening is about allowing black to overextend into the center, which he invariably does (at least at my level), at which time you pick him apart one weakness at a time, assuming all goes well.

What are some things to avoid when playing the opening as white?  What Should black be shooting for?

Thanks.

Im a veteran.  Black should be shooting for an early to late game checkmate.  Remember to fully develop your pieces, but thats not always your top priority.  EVERY PAWN COUNTS.  What you do is you let him overextend into the center then exploit his weaknesses.  Attack the bishops from the sides not diagonals.  Another piece of advice: Gain the advantage early on.

There is no early-advantage from 1.g3.

You give up the initiative on move one. Black gets to drive.

Well theres plenty of ways you could play the position after 1.g3.

For example
Catalan systems by playing d4 and c4
KIA by playing d3 and e4
Reverse dutch leningrad by playing f4
Reverse modern systems with stuff like c4

There's heaps. I play 1.a3 now, but when I did play 1.g3 I used: 1.g3 e5 2.c4 with a transposition to reverse sicilian 1..d5 2.f4 with reverse lenignrad dutch ..c5 2.e4 with closed sicilian.
