Now, when playing this gambit, there are some very important rules you must follow. 

After placing the king in that vulnerable position, slowly look up from the board with an angry and challenging look in your eye.

Make eye contact with your opponent for exactly 6.59 seconds, and then mouth (Don't whisper or make any noise, just mouth it) "Do it. I dare you"

Sustain eye contact for another 3.6 seconds, then sit down and cross your arms and act like you didn't just make the most balls-ey move in chess history.

Every time I've used this tactic OTB, it worked for me, and I even used it once in an online game!

well thats what I would do impulsively, so my opponent would have no time to stare at me and play that mind game

also how do you "play on" and "accept the gambit"? Decline the free mate? Play another developing move?

You "accept the gambit" by realizing that it's a joke.

You ruin the joke by not getting it 2 years later.
