Top ten terrifying chess openings

Here's a list of 5 most dangerous openings, am waiting for other suggestions from you guys, let's discuss one by one

1. Anti-Meran Gambit Accepted

2.The Sveshnikov in the next post

So, what do you think of the Anti-Meran Accepted?

Crazychessplaya

First it is "top ten", then it is "top five" and what we get is "top two."

Vyomo

Crazychessplaya, I am discussing one at a time!
SO, let's discuss this fist-what do you think?

Sidford_Knight

Is white meant to be better here?

After say 13...Qe7 then what?

Vyomo

No, I'm talking about tactically. This could backfire on either side.

Vyomo

Well, I just want discussion!
So, The Anti-Meran Gambit fails to stifle much discussion.

So, the sveshnikov

Vyomo

Well, oddly enough, the sveshnikov is a failure, if popular response is any parameter.

Juanito_Milnus

That's a shame I was hoping to learn some openings. Never mind...

Crazychessplaya

Ain't that the truth.

NachtWulf

1. Nc3, and 2. Nb1 make quite a terrifying opening, regardless of black's counterplay.

Humor aside, the scandinavian is often used as a surprise opening (most folks don't prepare against it), so perhaps it might count as "terrifying" in a different sense.

hellobecauseIamgreat

Yeah, maybe not "terrifying", but "unexpected", "odd", or "different"

hellobecauseIamgreat

The Anti-Meran Gambit Accepted is basically a gambit in the semi-slav variation?

Or maybe this is a 13 year old thread that you resurrected for no reason...

REAL MEN... brutal, coarse, hairy, knuckle-dragging men... play the Najdorf instead.

Can you reasonably expect black to know all of this just to be equal? Scotch Gambit can get very scary very quickly, and force your opponent to find several only moves not to get blown off the board.

shout out for the Danish gambit! If you don't know the theory as black it is ver scary to play against!

Danish used to haunt my dreams. Bg5+, Nf6, and d5 at the right time are all crucial.
