I have written two books on the Smith-Morra Gambit with the late Ken Smith and have collected hundreds of games and traps with this opening.  Here is one of my trappy games from a tournament.

Yes, Ken "Top Hat" Smith (chess master and poker player) sort of named the Morra Gambit the Smith-Morra Gambit after years of study and analysis.  I had the practical games played around the world from chess literature, and he had the analysis and played the opening in San Antonio 1972.  We put out Smith-Morra Accepted and Smith-Morra Declined, published by Bobby Dudley and Chess Enterprises in 1992 and 1993.
