What is the Vienna Game?
Vienna Game

The Vienna Game is 1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 ... an interesting opening. One I have seen played by some very strong players. Some lines I have seen go into the Vienna gambit when the sometimes played 2. ... Nf6 is followed by 3. f4 which can just transpose into normal Kings Gambit lines if you want. 3. f4 can be played even if black does not respond with 2. ... Nf6 of course making for some interesting lines.

The Vienna with f4 makes for very interesting games. Without it, it still leads to good and interesting games. Frankinstein-Dracula Variation anyone?

i dont wanna be a pain in the ass, but someone could show me an example game?,by the way thanx 4 your coments and help

This is from one of my speed games. I don't know if this answers your question, but it shows a little on the Vienna. Steinitz and Tchigorin both used to play the Vienna and their play is of a higher caliber than mine. Check out some of their games--there are a lot of free sites to download pgn examples. Enjoy.

After 1 e4 e5 Nc3 Nf6 f4, people didn't think it was so strong anymore after ...d5!, giving black a slight edge. In fact, 3.. exf4 is a bad move giving white a great position and largely improved kings gambit accepted. It's 3... d5 that white has trouble with.
