Meran, without a doubt. That is what I always play.

You cant always get into the meran.

Shiraaaaazi

Meran, without a doubt. It is a very solid defense that does not give up the center.

you would really advise a weak d4 played to play the meren or any slav for that matter CRAZY MAN

a good book road to chess improvment has a good advise on d4 four general ways of attacking as white depending on what white does

How's it going, Kenneth? I know its a little late to give advice for that game but I agree with alot of the suggestions so far:

Nimzo Indian: Excellent winning percentage for black. If he decline to play Nc3 right away, turn it into a Queen's Indian (Anand's favourite Indian defence and he's Indian ; )

Semi-Slav: Solid and practically plays itself

QGD: hundreds of years of theory can't be wrong

All aggresive defenses to 1.d4 require some theory. Sorry man.

Your best shot is the Chigorin. It can be spicey at times and White might trade down to an endgame which may not be so bad for you if survival is important.

You don't need to much theory to roll with it. Your biggest issue is that friggin c7 pawn. It's dangerous to block it in vs. queens pawn openings and it could be a serious target for White. Get ready for cxd5, Bf4 and Rc1 for instance.

There is a heap of theory on that and it's as complicated as it gets--

How about either the Tarrasch defence, semi-tarrasch defence, or the Schara -henning gambit.
